Our Story

After a close friend struggled to pay for his wife's funeral, incurring debt and stress with little guidance on who to turn to for help, our founder Derrick decided to learn about the challenges in the funeral industry.

Switching from a designer in tech to working as a funeral director eventually led Derrick to the creation of thinkingwillow.com, where selling eco-funerals built the understanding of how to support individuals and families on the journey of bereavement.

Our mission is to reduce the time, effort, and friction associated with estate planning and bereavement care. Ownleaf leverages technology, empathy, and design to create better financial and well-being outcomes for individuals, families, and businesses.
